Your child’s mental health and wellness is as important as their physical health.

Let us help you find positive ways to support your child and your family.

individualized evaluations

Sometimes children present with various challenging behaviors that can be difficult to manage and understand. Learning can be frustrating for both parents and children alike. Struggles at home and at school are not uncommon, but they do not have to be a source of stress for you and your family. A comprehensive evaluation can be the key to helping you better understand your child’s needs. Identifying strengths and weakness to help them develop into a more successful version of themselves, and pinpointing targeted intervention strategies to lead to a happier and healthier lifestyle for you and your family may be just what you need.

Just as no two children are alike, each evaluation is individualized to address your child’s specific needs. Each evaluation will include a complimentary consultation, a parent interview, a comprehensive report with specialized interventions, and recommendations for treatment, and an hour video feedback session.

parent support

Being a parent is one of the most rewarding, yet challenging roles, we can have. And while even the most typical child may engage in difficult behaviors at times, it can be hard for parents to know when its a sign of typical growth and development or a symptom of a bigger issue. Parent coaching and therapy can help parents to understand the nature of their child’s behavior and how to more effectively manage behavioral challenges in order to feel more confident and consistent in their approach to discipline, and overall more optimistic about parenting.

Giftedness.

Does your child exhibit characteristics of giftedness? While each child’s gifted traits are unique, we can help you to determine if enrichment and gifted services in the school setting may be beneficial for your child.

Psychoeducational Evaluations.

Learning begins in the classroom, yet for some children school can be a source of stress and frustration, and that stress and frustration often extends into the home environment. A psychoeducational evaluation can help identify cognitive strengths contributing to school success, as well as possible barriers that may be hindering your child’s academic growth.

Autism Evaluations.

Some children may be withdrawn and shy, while others may display pervasive social difficulties that impact their connectivity with others. Some children have specialized skills and interests, while others’ interests are narrowed in a manner that is atypical in intensity. Changes in routines can be challenging for all children, but can be debilitating for some. Have you ever questioned whether these areas are more problematic than simple preferences or personality traits? An autism evaluation examining your child’s social-communication skills and patterns of behaviors may provide better insight on your child’s needs.

Psychological Evaluations.

Does your child display a wide range of emotions and behaviors that are sometimes unpredictable and unexplainable? Have they been moody, irritable, or withdrawn for a prolonged period of time? Do you struggle to support your child’s mental health needs? Identifying underlying emotionality and behavioral triggers through a comprehensive psychological evaluation may better help you and your child understand their needs. An evaluation can ultimately lead to targeted treatment planning that may assist your child in regulating their emotions and behaviors in a more productive manner.

Developmental/Preschool Evaluations.

All children develop differently. Some developmental skills emerge earlier than others. However, sometimes we begin to question whether our children are meeting developmental milestones in the right time frame. Are you questioning whether your child’s motor or language skills will catch up with other children their age? Or are they exhibiting behaviors that you are worried they may not outgrow? If these are questions you have asked yourself, a developmental evaluation can help determine whether early intervention may be warranted.

School-focused Neuropsychological Evaluations.

Constant movement and activity is common in young children, and many parents normalize such behaviors. But have you ever wondered if your child’s behaviors are more than what may be typical? Is your child always on the go or do they move between activities quickly? Do they struggle to maintain attention and focus or display poor impulse control? Can they remember something one minute, and then forget the very next? Executive functioning difficulties and memory impairments can negatively impact your child’s functioning both at home and at school, and a comprehensive evaluation may help to develop more targeted area for intervention in both the home and school settings.

College Based Evaluations.

As your child enters the world of high-stakes testing, are you beginning to question their need for additional support? Or has your child received accommodations throughout their academic careers and are you worried about what may come next when they go to college? Might they still need continued support on high-stakes tests that impact their future? A need for accommodations does not end when a child graduates from high school. Accommodations on standardized tests such as the SAT, ACT, GRE, LSAT, and MCAT may be necessary, following the proper evaluation and identification of your child’s underlying needs.

Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT).

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is an evidenced-based treatment program effective for children aged 2-10 years that are currently experiencing emotional and behavioral challenges. PCIT empowers parents, and focuses on improving the quality of the parent-child relationship and enhancing parent-child interaction patterns. During PCIT, the therapist provides in-the-moment coaching on skills the parent is learning to manage their child's behavior using a remote video platform. PCIT is implemented in two phases, relationship enhancement and compliance strategies, and typically lasts 12-20 sessions. Each session is 50 minutes long, and the cost is $175 per session.

Parent Coaching.

Parent coaching sessions offer assistance with common behavior issues and challenges. Coaching can provide parents with skills to increase their child's ability to follow directions, decrease frequency and intensity of tantrums, and assist with emotional regulation. Sessions can start out as weekly appointments and then decrease to bi-monthly appointments as challenging behaviors improve. Each session is 50 minutes long, and the cost is $175 per session.

School Support.

The public school system can at times be extremely difficult for families to navigate. Given Dr. Anderson’s years of experience working in the school system, she is able to provide assistance in understanding the evaluation process and special education system including the IEP process and areas of eligibilities. Additionally, she can provide support in navigating the Section 504 process and available school resources, and is able to attend school meetings with families if needed. School support services are billed at a rate of $175 per hour.

telepsychology

Finding a provider who is the right fit for you and your family is essential; establishing a positive working relationship is the foundation for effective and supportive services and personal growth. However, sometimes this can be challenging, particularly when working with your state boundaries. Dr. Anderson is excited to offer her therapeutic services via telehealth to clients residing in Florida and across the country with the PSYPACT certification.

PSYPACT Telepsychology.

The Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact (PSYPACT®) is an interstate compact initiative created to facilitate the practice of telepsychology and the temporary in-person, face-to-face practice of psychology across state boundaries. States that permit PSYPACT providers to practice within their state boundaries allow their residents to select providers from across the country to work with them. This is essential as it allows people to find specialists for treatment that may not otherwise be available to them within their state, and ultimately improving access to quality healthcare.

Currently, there are 40 states that permit psychologists to provide therapy services via the PSYPACT certification. Please visit the website below to find out if your state currently permit PSYPACT providers: https://psypact.org/mpage/psypactmap
